NARRATIVE:
On 06/16/2024 at approximately 4:30 PM Officer Kalb was in the area of Blake Street and noted a large cloud of dust over the parking lot behind the Swanton Recreation field. SVPD has received numerous complaints about people driving in the parking lot doing burnouts and donuts. When the vehicle in the lot was approached it left the parking lot at a high rate of speed. At that time the vehicle was followed, and the officer noted that the driver failed to stop at the stop sign at the intersection of Jewett St. and Grand Ave. The vehicle then traveled southbound on Grand Avenue and passed a vehicle on the right as it was trying to turn into a driveway. The vehicle then made a wide turn onto Bushey St, leaving the travel portion of the roadway and destroyed a roadway sign as well as a mailbox. After the vehicle returned to the roadway, it approached Robin Hood Drive where it failed to stop at the intersection and nearly struck two pedestrians on the side of the road at that intersection. The vehicle then came to a stop in front of 37 Bushey Street. The driver of the vehicle was transported and processed. The driver was issued a citation to appear in court on Tuesday 6/18/2024 at 1:00 PM.
All of the subjects in the suspect motor vehicle were juveniles. For that reason, we are not able to release any names at this time.
