Barre, Vt. — The Vermont Agency of Transportation (AOT) today announced the recipients of more than $8.6 million in federal funds for municipal grant projects through the Transportation Alternatives Program (TAP) and Municipal Highways and Stormwater Mitigation Program (MHSMP).
“These diverse projects will help continue to enhance and expand Vermont’s transportation infrastructure,” said Transportation Secretary Joe Flynn. “Improvements to sidewalks, bike paths, and shared-use paths provide Vermonters more transportation options and improve their quality of life.”
The projects selected this year include:
- Athens: Construction of a new wider box Culvert on Brookline Road
- Bennington: Paved path and a bridge on the Ninja Path
- Bradford: Scoping study for a bike/ped path along Creamery Road
- Brattleboro: Construct 450 feet of new sidewalk along Fairground Road
- Brattleboro: Scoping study to fix Black Mountain Road
- Bridgewater: Construction of a new sand/salt shed
- Bridport: Construction of new culvert along Middle Road
- Bristol: Construction of a new ADA-accessible sidewalk along Airport Road
- CVRPC: Multi-use path to connect VT-100 in Warren, Waitsfield, and Moretown.
- Fair Haven: Additional funding to install lighting along the town green
- Fair Haven: Additional funding for rain gardens and sidewalks at the new park and ride
- Fairlee: Phase II of stormwater work along U.S. 5
- Ferrisburgh: Construction of multiple sidewalks along Route 7
- Grafton: Construction of a new box culvert on Fisher Road
- Guilford: Construction of a new box culvert on Slate Rock Road
- Hardwick: Scoping study for multimodal infrastructure along Mill Street and South Main Street
- Hinesburg: Reconstruction and improvement of sidewalks along VT Route 116
- Jericho: Construction of 625 feet of sidewalk connecting MMU High School to the Village Path on Ethan Allen Road
- Middlebury: Adams Acres stormwater treatment
- Milton: Construction of a new sand/salt shed
- Newfane: Construction of a new box culvert on Depot Road
- Perkinsville: Scoping study for pedestrian improvement on VT Route 106
- Proctor: Additional funding to widen and replace existing sidewalk along South Street
- Randolph: Scoping study for sidewalk in Randolph Village
- Rockingham: Upgrade 2,520 square feet of concrete sidewalks and add ADA-compliant ramps along Church Street and School Street Ext.
- Rutland: Scoping study of bike/ped travel plan for the Rutland City schools
- Shelburne: Additional funding to construct a sidewalk along Irish Hill Road
- Shoreham: Construction of a new box culvert on Doolittle Road
- South Burlington: Phase II of construction on a new/upgraded box culvert on Butler Farms Road
- South Burlington: Scoping study Adelphia Cable pond retrofit
- Springfield: Improvement of stormwater system on Lealand Avenue and Boynton Street
- St. Albans: Construction of a new culvert on French Hill Road
- St. Albans: Scoping study for east and west basin along Rugg Brook
- Swanton: Construction to convert Church Street into a one-way street with bike lines northbound and southbound
The TAP and MHSMP scoring committee includes representatives from AOT, the Agency of Natural Resources (ANR), and the Vermont Association of Planning and Development Agencies (VAPDA).
